I only met Elenora a couple of times during my time in Greigbury, but she was always personable, taking a friendly interest in my career. She was known for her community spirit and various causes she supported during her life.
For most of her working life she was employed by the Royal Mail, working in the local sorting office for several years prior to becoming Post Mistress of the Rangefield Post Office until she retired. Before retiring she was known for her volunteer work around the town and afterward this became her full-time preoccupation.
Earlier in her life she had also cultivated an interest in gymnastics and gained much acclaim for her ability. She won several nationwide competitions and was also included in the UK Olympic team in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, although she never actually competed.
She was locally well-known and well-liked. A positive member of the community and will be missed.
