With the atrocious weather of the past week, Greigbury has barely escaped disaster from flooding. We have the Hensy river that runs through the western part of town but, although the waters climbed the banks, they were contained. A lucky escape and a timely warning of the sometimes-precarious existence our so-called civilisation suffers.
For years, there has been a campaign to improve the course of the Hensy following the flooding of 1997 and 2003. Hopefully, this near miss will be incentive for ‘Them in Charge’ to do something about it. Hope springs eternal: as possibly will the source of the Hensy.
