The sentience of the Green came at a particularly apt moment in our history. Many scientists and theologians have claimed that our own civilisational progress forced the Emergence. The growing realisation and societal impact of climate imbalance was already urging us to take a different path into the future. Whatever the underlying cause, it occurred at precisely the right time for all.
At this point, we should mention those who were lost during this tumultuous time. The people of Rio de Janeiro will not be forgotten, and the remains of the city will stand as a monument to them. The memory of California is preserved as greatest price we paid for centuries of negligence and self-indulgence.
With these losses incurred, we now have peace and beneficial co-existence with the Green. Our free and voluntary co-operation with the Green means a secure for our children. We have taken responsibility for ourselves and, more importantly, our world. Now we have a foundation on which to build our expansion beyond Earth.
The Galaxy is our future.
